What do you do when you’re receiving too many candidate applications?
When you’re a large, stable organisation, a lot of candidates will apply to your roles regardless of whether they’re the right fit or not, just seeking security. The weight of applications ties up resources, costs time and money, and can make it more difficult to find the right candidates.
With our digital partners we developed a strategy that transformed CommBank’s careers site into an intuitive, first-person storytelling environment. One that, simply by bringing the bank’s employment experience truth to life, in an engaging and authentic way, would resonate with the right candidates and discourage others from applying.
We conducted employee research to uncover the stories and then brought these to life through crafting careers site text and producing 14 videos. This content extended into social media platforms, driving the right candidates back to the careers site.
While applications reduced, significantly freeing up CommBank resources, both recruitment and hiring managers were amazed by the increase in candidate quality.
